After receiving over 100 "App Assist" cases this past month, we realized this is a program that really works.  I was especially impressed when I realized that more than a dozen of the applications were issued within 10 days of submission. Unlike normal submission, remember, you do not need the clients signature and because you are submitting the application in real-time to the home office, the case is setup in the home office immediately. Because Banner sets up the exam when the personal interview is completed, the exams are usually completed more promptly. As a matter of fact over 97% of exams get completed in 10 days !
You probably guessed it, but the exam and APS's are scanned directly to the home office underwriter for quicker review ! However because the interview is very detailed, many times APS's aren't needed. We have noticed a significant number of cases where no APS was ordered at all !
As an example, quite often a client commits to buying term insurance over the phone. Yet it may take you two weeks to schedule an appointment and it may take another week to double check the application and submit it to our office. Quite often this adds 3 weeks to the beginning of the underwriting process. Many times Banner App Assist cases are issued in less than 3 three weeks. So with Banner App Assist, you could be placing the policy in the same time frame it took to get the case submitted !
Since Banner is completing the application on your behalf, rarely do they ask you to go back to the insured for additional information. As you have experienced, going back to the client for more information is counterproductive and usually adds on an additional two weeks to the underwriting process.
Lastly, it's not always convenient for you to submit am app on-line, so Shaw American has developed the "Shaw Assist" form for you to complete and fax or email to us. New Shaw Assist Form Is Here! Jon Shaw Is Giving You A 10% Commission Bonus When You Submit An "Shaw Assist" Form In The Month Of March

Effective March 16, 2009, West Coast Life will implement the following updates to both their Focus Term & Income Replacement Term products.
 
The policy fee on their Focus Term products will increase on the $250,000 and $1,000,000 rate bands for all new policies (see business rules below).
     - To $55 for the 10-year and 15-year products
     - To $60 for the 20-year, 25-year and 30-year products

· The per-unit rates will increase in most cells on the Focus Term 30 for most rate bands.

· The unique Income Replacement Term's Life Insurance Rider (WC-621) - The maximum face amount on the lump-sum rider will be Five (5) times the base Income Replacement Term policy. For example, if the face amount of the base policy is $1 million, then the maximum benefit of the rider cannot be more than $5 million. The face amount of the base policy is equal to the sum of the total benefit payments.
 
· The LifeTime Platinum III (07/08) & LifeTime Platinum III Plus will no longer be available for conversion options from any term or term-like product. This will affect in force and all new term policies. Conversions are still available to LifeTime Advantage Plus.
 
· The first year commission for both the Focus Term 20 & Income Replacement Term 20 products to the agent will be reduced by 5 points.

· Standard Non-Tobacco minimum issue age will move from age 15 to age 16 both for all Focus Term Series and Income Replacement Term products. Note:Despite this adjustment, West Coast Life's term insurance prices remain among the most competitive in the industry.

Many other carriers have already made similar adjustments to their term insurance portfolios to reflect current market and economic conditions. WCL will continue to monitor its competitive position carefully to ensure it maintains a leader in the term insurance arena.
